The hands and hearts that make every surgery possible.
Start Volunteer ApplicationSpineHope relies on skilled volunteers: surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians, and support staff. If you want to use your expertise to help children who lack care, we want to hear from you.

Two clear pathways.

Clinical & Surgical Pathway
We prioritize experienced clinical professionals for Global Outreach missions (Ecuador, Nicaragua) and US Hub cases.
- Spine Surgeons: Board-certified pediatric or adult spine surgeons with deformity experience.
- Anesthesia: Pediatric or spine-experienced anesthesiologists and CRNAs.
- Nursing & OR Tech: Peri-op nurses, circulators, scrub techs, PACU.
- Neuromonitoring: IONM technologists and neurophysiologists.
- Imaging / C-Arm: Radiology technologists experienced in the OR.
- PT / Rehab: Physical therapists for post-op and recovery support.
Prior global-health experience is helpful but not required. We verify credentials and match volunteers to upcoming needs.
Operational & Remote Pathway
Not every contribution requires an OR. We also need reliable support in:
- Translation (Spanish/English)
- On-site logistics and patient coordination
- Photography and videography
- Fundraising, events, and donor communications
- Data, research, and administrative projects
- Student and recent-graduate projects (certificates available for required service hours)
Many of these roles can be done remotely or locally.
What a mission looks like
Global Outreach trips typically run 7-10 days and include clinic evaluation days plus a focused surgical block. Travel, lodging, and most on-ground logistics are coordinated by SpineHope.
As funds allow, we cover flights for non-surgeon volunteers. We deeply appreciate anyone who is able to support any portion of their own travel costs, when possible; it helps us stretch limited resources further and bring more clinical talent to the field.
US Hub support is different: longer stays, Austin-based, and focused on individual complex cases and family support.
Every clinical volunteer goes through a simple intake: credentials, availability, and a short conversation so we can match the right people to the right trips.

Surgical missions are typically 7 to 10 days on the ground. Operational and remote roles are more flexible and can be project-based.
No. Many of our strongest clinical volunteers come from U.S. academic and private-practice backgrounds.
Yes. We prioritize board-certified attendings for primary surgical roles, but supervised fellows and residents add real value. Non-medical professionals are welcome in operational and support roles.
We review credentials and availability, then follow up with a short conversation and potential trip matches.
