Direct Care
Surgeons, anesthesia, instruments, implants, and recovery for children who would otherwise never reach an operating room.
Every mission restores a child’s future, and strengthens the team that will carry this work forward in Ecuador.

In Ecuador, children with complex spinal deformities often wait years for care their families cannot afford. Without surgery, many lose mobility, school years, and the confidence to participate in daily life. Specialized pediatric spine care is scarce outside a few centers, and the waiting list grows faster than local capacity alone can clear.
Ecuador is an anchor of SpineHope’s Global Outreach model. Led by medical director Dr. Alec Stall, our volunteer surgical teams work side-by-side with host spine surgeon Dr. Hazem Nicola and partners including Fundación Hospital de los Valles and Fundación Ana in Quito. Together we deliver charity surgery and post-op care for children whose families cannot pay, and we train local surgeons, nurses, residents, and students in advanced techniques and spine safety so the program grows stronger between visits.

Clinic days, reconnection with prior patients, and the aftercare that protects every surgical outcome.
Hands-on teaching with Ecuadorian partners so expertise stays in-country long after the mission team flies home.

A child who arrived bent by deformity leaves standing taller, and a local team that operated beside ours is ready for the next case on the list.
Your gift covers the full cost of a child's surgical care, from the operating room to recovery. Every dollar fuels direct medical intervention in communities with no other option.
Three pillars of care working together: surgical missions, in-country treatment, and training the next generation.
