Mae’s Story

My name is Mae and I am in the Tallahassee, Florida chapter of Curvy Girls. Currently, I am four months out from my spinal fusion in June, and getting better every single day. I was diagnosed in 2021 at the age of eleven. If I could go back and tell myself something when I first got diagnosed, especially when I started wearing my brace, I would have told myself to stop caring. Not to stop caring about scoliosis, but to stop caring about what people thought of me because of my scoliosis. I would have said Mae, there are countless other girls just like you and anyone who belittles you because of your scoliosis doesn't deserve to have their opinion affect you. I'm really glad I found Curvy Girls and was able to make and lead a group in my area, so I can help other girls like me.
