  • "Definitely there are heroes without selfless layers who, with their work, give others the great opportunity to change their lives and that is what SpineHope does. They change lives."

-Luis Anibal Brito, Loving Father of Chantal Paulino Brito, 2020 Hub Program Patient from the Dominican Republic

  • "SpineHope is a wonderful and beautiful organization filled with persons that are loving, caring and kind hearted, they have saved so many lives and mine also was saved and forever I’m grateful for that."

-Rahsaan Abel, 2017 Hub Program Participant from the Republic of Guyana

  • "The SpineHope Program was a life changing experience being there and getting the help I need. Because of this program I got to work towards my goal and now I’m a nurse and I’m proud."

-Kachell Morris, 2018 Hub Program Patient from the Republic of Guyana

  • "Rating my experience with Spinehope, I can say that it was an amazing 11 if the limit was 10. The doctors were kind, patient and everyone from the nurses to the anesthesiologist who was a part of my surgery was all very helpful and encouraging. I had shared many concerns regarding the surgery as I was doubtful but they were reassuring, making my experience the best it could possibly be. Spinehope is a non-profit that not only brings hope but changes lives, and it did for me."

-Samathra Scott, 2018 Hub Program Patient from the Republic of Guyana

  • "We are from Ukraine! My son has many complex diseases and our path to better health is difficult. They couldn’t help us in Ukraine with one difficult problem … But fate brought us together with the wonderful team Spinehope, which gladly agreed to help us! Not only is this a very qualified care, it is also really free for us (patients)! My son was successfully operated on in Austin, many thanks to Dr. Matthew Geck, Dawn Deakin and everyone involved. We will not forget this! I can’t even imagine how much effort it costs to organize, bring, treat and lead these patients. You are a miracle! Health to you all!"

-Valeriia Atamanenko, Loving Mother of Grigoriy Atamanenko, 2020 Hub Program Patient from Ukraine

  • "Thank you very much to your entire team. I will be eternally grateful to you and the change you made in my life. Greetings from Nicaragua!

-Isabella, Patient from the February 2024 Nicaragua Surgical Mission Trip

THE WIDESPREAD CHALLENGE AND NEED

Millions of children around the world are afflicted with complex spine conditions. Spine abnormalities and disorders can cause pain, weakness, uneven posture, balance issues, decreased mobility, and reduced lung capacity. In more severe cases of spinal cord compression, paralysis is a risk if left untreated. Oftentimes, there are also negative psychological and social implications. In low-income communities, these conditions are often ignored or left untreated due to lack of education, social stigma, limited/no access to adequate spine care, and/or insufficient resources to pay for costly treatment. This is a widespread, global problem and the need for assistance is great in underserved populations.

Who We Are

Our goals are to reduce pain and improve quality of life for children with spinal deformities. To promote sustainable spine care and treatment for children in our global outreach sites, it is part of our mission to help educate and train local medical teams on advanced surgical techniques and spine safety protocols.
