Mending Spines & Transforming Lives
SpineHope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing advanced treatment to children suffering from severe spinal deformities and complex spine conditions worldwide. Our programs focus on direct surgical care, education, and research to help heal one child, one spine at a time.
Who We Are
Our goals are to reduce pain and improve quality of life for children with spinal deformities. To promote sustainable spine care and treatment for children in our global outreach sites, it is part of our mission to help educate and train local medical teams on advanced surgical techniques and spine safety protocols.
THE WIDESPREAD CHALLENGE AND NEED
Millions of children around the world are afflicted with spinal deformities. Spine abnormalities and complex curvatures can cause pain, weakness, uneven posture, balance issues, decreased mobility, and reduced lung capacity. In more severe cases of spinal cord compression, paralysis is a risk if left untreated. Oftentimes, there is a considerable psychological and social impact, also preventing them from leading normal, healthy lives. In developing countries and low-income communities, deformities are often ignored or left untreated due to lack of education, social stigma, limited/no access to adequate spine care, and/or insufficient resources to pay for costly treatment. Children in these situations require support from outside their communities. This is a widespread problem and the need for assistance is great.
