SpineHope’s Ethiopia Medical Mission Trip – Jan 18-28, 2017

It brings us joy to announce that the next SpineHope medical mission trip will be January 18-28, 2017, at the Myungsung Christian Medical Center (MCM) in Ethiopia! Ethiopia remains one of the world’s least developed countries and its children suffer from an incredibly high number of spinal deformities and other complex spine conditions. Unfortunately, treatment for these conditions is expensive and Ethiopia neither has the resources nor the specialized medical professionals to provide adequate care. There is a list of well over 500 children in need of spine surgery…and that list continues to grow. The only assistance provided has come from outside groups and surgeons willing to volunteer their time and resources.

We are happy to join these efforts and are grateful to have the opportunity to help. We are in the process of forming a team with the goal of performing spine surgery on 8-12 children and seeing several more in clinic during our initial 1.5 week long medical mission trip. Our hope is to build a long term and sustainable global outreach program in Ethiopia. Therefore, in addition to providing medical care to the children, our team will also provide education and advanced training to local medical staff. We look forward to this live-changing collaboration.
