2018 SpineHope Costa Rica Medical Mission Trip – Feb 24th – Mar 4th
We are pleased to announce that our 2018 spine medical mission trip to Costa Rica is set for February 24 – March 4, 2018. Partnering once again with surgeons at the National Children’s Hospital (Hospital Nacional de Ninos) in Costa Rica’s capital city of San Jose, we will provide treatment and conduct surgery on 8-12 children; see 25-35 children in clinic; and hold education talks/training for local medical professionals during our week long trip. Going on our 5th consecutive year of SpineHope medical mission trips to Costa Rica, we are focused on creating a sustainable and quality spine care model, instead of a fly in-do surgery-leave model. We appreciate all who continue to make this possible and look forward to next February! If you would like to make a donation to help support the volunteers and children for our upcoming trip, CLICK HERE.
2017 SpineHope Ethiopia Medical Mission Trip – Postponed (Dates TBD)
It brings us joy to announce that the next SpineHope medical mission trip will be January 18-28, 2017, at the Myungsung Christian Medical Center (MCM) in Ethiopia! Ethiopia remains one of the world’s least developed countries and its children suffer from an incredibly high number of spinal deformities and other complex spine conditions. Unfortunately, treatment for these conditions is expensive and Ethiopia neither has the resources nor the specialized medical professionals to provide adequate care. There is a list of well over 500 children in need of spine surgery…and that list continues to grow. The only assistance provided has come from outside groups and surgeons willing to volunteer their time and resources.
We are happy to join these efforts and are grateful to have the opportunity to help. We are in the process of forming a team with the goal of performing spine surgery on 8-12 children and seeing several more in clinic during our initial 1.5 week long medical mission trip. Our hope is to build a long term and sustainable global outreach program in Ethiopia. Therefore, in addition to providing medical care to the children, our team will also provide education and advanced training to local medical staff. We look forward to this live-changing collaboration. To make a donation to support the volunteers and children for the Ethiopia Medical Mission, visit: http://www.spinehope.org/ethiopia-global-outreach-program/ . Thank you!
